Exploration of the use of different ICT tools in Math
Limited Capacity seats available

  • Use of ICT in the learning and assessment in Math is rather limited despite we have progressed to MP4.
  • The sharing will focus on the use of different forms of ICT as tool of learning to allow Primary Math learners to explore and reflect Math in a self-directed manner and contruct their knowledge via self-motivated and cooperative  learning.
  • Despite the nature of the sharing, you would be able to bring back ideas on how to carry out lessons mediated by ICT
  • Do bring along a laptop to have some learning experience during the sharing :)

Limited Capacity seats available

In this lesson setting, pupils are designated as reporters and editors to investigate and gather data for an incident, through the use of QR codes and face-to-face interviews. The group then collaborated more information to complete the writing assignment using GAFE (Google account and DOCs) from home, before their individual composition writing.

Besides GAFE skills, the team acquire other knowledge such as being able to discern the data collected, working with others and making sound decisions to put the best team member on the job.

Do bring along your smartphone of tablet with Google Docs and QR Reader downloaded. :))

Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Game of life is a simulation game where people could go to manned stations to get a job, education, buy and sell assets, stocks and make contributions. This game uses a Google spreadsheet that is unique to each player and they are able to keep stock of their 'life' digitally. By using Google forms and apps script, a station master could enter a request through a Google form to enable the person to buy and sell 'virtual assets', hire or get an education. The apps script running on the form will update each player's Google spreadsheet accordingly. This session will allow the participants to experience the game, how the apps script could link the forms to the spreadsheets and how apps scripts could help manage data effectively in different spreadsheets.

SST Outdoor Classroom Project
Limited Capacity seats available

To provide a platform for the conduct of onsite Place-based Learning during Field Trips. The learning approach allows the setup of a temporary classroom to support the learning of students on-site. In this setting, a group of students participated in an environmental science field study to experience knowledge integration and a decision-making process. The project involves a group of students engaged in a 2-phase science and planning project. In phase 1, students will work on six research topics to understand the characteristics of an organic farm and in phase 2, they will plan for the development of an ecological village. Students collected and analysed data from the field and shared their findings. Should there be any problems with the data collected, they will be able to refine their methods of data collection immediately. Throughout the project, students will experience the development of integrated knowledge, the challenges of knowledge sharing and communication during their collaboration. This will allow students to learn through a collaborative problem-solving process, including the interdependence of knowledge and the development of mutual relationships such as respect and care for others’ knowledge and learning. Through this project, we attempt to encapsulate all the value-propositions of SST. They key Google Apps used are Google Maps and Google Sketchup.

Using Googlesheets to bespoke the learning experience of students
Limited Capacity filling up

In the drive to differentiate the learning experience and learning support of our students, it is imperative that we start at better understanding the students' current level of attainment and this can be done through the judicious analysis of students' work. GoogleSheets can be used to provide an immediate feedback to students on their areas of strengths and weakness so that steps can be taken to maximise areas of strengths whilst compensating for weaknesses.

Through the use of the functionalities of GoogleSheets, we will walk through the analysis process and how this knowledge help to shape the direction and learning experience of a Secondary 4 Mathematics class.
